In-Depth Information
This enticing new drinking spot pays homage to grittier, hard-drinking days of the 1970s,
with glorious wood paneling, patterned wallpaper and groove-heavy '70s tunes playing
overhead - plus 1970s Playboy covers in the bathroom. The tasty, tropical-themed cock-
tails (around $14 a pop) go down easy - try the Mezcal Mule (mezcal, passion fruit,
ginger and cucumber). Vintage pub grub with a twist completes the retro tripping. (13 First

This tucked-away tapas bar has a grotto-like design, with flickering candles, dark tin ceil-
ings, brick walls and a U-shaped bar that's an ideal setting for conversation with a new
friend. The chalkboard menu hangs on both walls and features excellent wines by the
glass, which go nicely with boquerones (marinated anchovies), txipirones en su tinta
(squid in ink sauce), regional cheeses and refreshing oysters (just $1.25 before 7pm). (

This newcomer's glamour is concealed behind a tawdry pawnshop front. Beyond lies
10,000-sq-ft of sleek lounge space, complete with leather sofas and banquettes, dramatic
amber-tinged lighting and a curved staircase that leads to yet another lounge and bar area.
Ladies in need of a drink might want to bypass the bar and pay a visit to the powder
room, where there's complimentary champagne (sorry, fellas). (
