In-Depth Information
Any modern-day museum worth its salt has to have a structure that makes as much of a
statement as the artwork inside. The New Museum's Lower East Side avatar accomplishes
just that and more with its inspired design by noted Japanese architecture firm SANAA.
The museum's mission statement is simple: 'New art, new ideas', and as the city's sole
museum dedicated to contemporary art, it has brought a steady menu of edgy works in
new forms.
On the first Saturday of the month, the New Museum hosts special events for budding
artists, with hands-on crafts and activities for kids aged 4 to 15. Free museum admission is
included for adults (it's always free for kids). (
