Curbside Culture
The sidewalk engraving on the northwest corner of Prince St and Broadway is the
work of Japanese-born sculptor Ken Hiratsuka, who has carved almost 40 sidewalks
in NYC. This particular engraving took two years to complete (1983-84), police fre-
quently disrupting Hiratsuka's illegal nighttime chiseling.
