allowed achieving ultra-high selectivity to tetralin in the hydrogenation of
naphthalene. Another interesting example of this type uses a complex where
the heteroatom for the final phase, here sulfur, is located within the lig-
ands. 24 The newly synthesized precursor complex [Cd(SOCPh) 2 Lut 2 ] (where
Lut ΒΌ 3,5-dimethylpyridine (lutidine)) (Figure 3.4) was used for the prepar-
ation of CdS nanoparticles (NPs) with different shapes and sizes (rods and
spheres). They displayed a much better photocatalytic activity than com-
mercial TiO 2 in the degradation of Rose Bengal (RB) dye in presence of white
light. This is only one recent example, because many authors have used
previously various sulfur-containing Cd( II ) complexes as precursors to
