Woodstock) by calling music the “celestial sound that controls the whole universe.”
One of his devotees, Carole King, helped him acquire the nearly 1,000 acres of

Hotel Na Balam. Just 8 miles from Cancun's bustle, Isla Mujeres offers yoga retreats at
its laid-back and friendly Hotel Na Balam. Small and unassuming, this hotel on the island's
north end has lush tropical gardens, comfy rooms, and a large outdoor palapa that's perfect
for practicing yoga. More than 20 yoga teachers and groups (including the Feathered Pipe
Foundation) host retreats at this little-known oasis. If you care to venture farther from the
hammocks that overlook one of the prettiest beaches in the Mexican Caribbean, you can visit
a turtle farm or national park or swim with dolphins.

Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health. Once a Jesuit seminary, Kripalu's 150 wooded acres
in the Berkshires of Massachusetts provide a perfect setting for all sorts of yoga retreats and
workshops. It was once dubbed the East Coast' s “ om -central.” The most popular retreat is
a “Rest and Renewal” package that combines yoga with daily workshops and lots of time to
enjoy the hiking trails, saunas, and lakefront beach. Packages range from $122 to $350 a day,
