Bellapais Music Festival MUSIC

Held annually during May and June, the festival takes place in and around Bellapais Ab-
bey. It consists of concerts, recitals and brass-band performances in the refectory. Look
out for event details in Kyrenia and around town.

Paşa TURKISH

This teensy joint serves up cheap and cheerful portions of homemade flavour on Bel-
lapais' main road. Filling plates of lahmacun (Turkish pizza) and mantı (Turkish ravioli)
are dished up with large salads and lots of smiles.
Huzur Ağaç (Tree of Idleness) Restaurant INTERNATIONAL

Across the road from Bellapais Abbey, the shady varanda at Huzur Ağaç is a great spot
for lunch with a menu of filling sandwiches, kebabs and classic Cypriot favourites. Out-
side is the 200-year-old Robinia which may (or not) be Lawrence Durrell's famed 'Tree of
Idleness'.
Tarihi Değirmen Historic Mill Cafe CAFE
(Değirmen Sokak; mains 15-20TL; h 11am-6pm)
Follow the signs from the road up Bellapais hill from the abbey and you'll find this cafe,
set in an old mill (with grinding machines on show) where locals once produced their
olive oil. It's a good option for coffee or cold drinks as well as snacks and traditional Cyp-
riot grills.
