8 Getting There & Away
AIR
Ercan airport (Ercan Havalimanı; % 600 5000; www.ercanhavalimani.com ) is 40km southeast of
Kyrenia.
Cyprus XP Travel ( GOOGLE MAP ; % 815 1453; Atatürk Caddesi ; h 9am-5pm Mon-Sat) is the North
Cyprus representatives for Pegasus Airlines.
BOATS
A car ferry leaves for Taşucu in Turkey every Tuesday and Thursday at 2pm, and Friday
at midnight (passenger only/with car 75/175TL, departure tax 25TL, seven hours) from
the New Harbour, east of town.
The express passenger ferry to Turkey hasn't run since 2013 but there is talk of reinstat-
ing the service. Enquire for updates and buy tickets for ferries at Mavi Tur ( GOOGLE MAP ;
% 815 2344; Ziya Rızkı Caddesi 6; h 9am-6pm Mon-Sat) , located on the roundabout in front of Belediye
Meydanı.
BUSES & MINIBUSES
Kyrenia's transport hub is Belediye Meydanı. From here a jumble of private buses and
minibuses (dolmuşes) depart to destinations across the country.
Buses to Famagusta (Mağusa; 8TL, 1¼ hours, hourly from 7am to 6pm) leave from the
Libra Tur office ( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; % 815 7248; Ecevit Caddesi; h 7am-9pm) .
Minibuses to North Nicosia (Lefkoşa; 4.50TL, 35 minutes, half-hourly from 7am to
6.30pm), Lapta (4TL, 20 minutes, roughly every 20 minutes from 7am to 6pm) and
Güzelyurt (Morfou; 5TL, 1¼ hours) among others depart from Mustafa Çaǧatay Caddesi.
