heeled crowd, here for the tasty international cuisine, including fajitas, pasta, steaks, ke-

goats cheese.

6 Drinking & Nightlife
Turkish Cypriots will themselves admit that nightlife in their capital is not all that hot, at
least in the Old City. In the New City, Mehmet Akif Caddesi is reasonably animated, but
if you're looking for more vigour and choice, head over the Green Line or to Kyrenia,
25km away.
A popular drinking area in the Old City is behind the Belediye Pazarı within the re-
stored old market building. Although it resembles a kind of warehouse, with tall ceilings
and low-hanging lamps, the space has an upbeat, modern look. There are several bars in-
side and plenty of places to puff on a nargileh.
The Büyük Han has live music on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in its central court-
yard.
Cafe Biyer BAR

range of 14 specialty cocktails and eight brands of tequila. Bar snacks, including cheese
platters and wraps, are also available or you can head to the swankier Biyer restaurant
next door.
