Inga is a friendly Icelandic chef who prepares several homely vegetarian dishes of the day,
such as stuffed peppers or lentil burgers, always served with a salad and homemade bread.

The ever-so-discreet yet very popular Egeon draws a faithful following of mainly local
devotees. The food, basically meze, is reliably good. You dine in the courtyard of an at-
mospheric old house in the summer and inside the house in winter. Reservations essential.

Part of the Nicosia Municipal Arts Centre, this sophisticated restaurant is suitably decor-
ated with striking paintings and sculptures. The menu includes steaks, kebabs, pasta and
salads, and desserts are in the innovative mode of chocolate mousse infused with Earl
Grey tea. There is live jazz most Saturdays in the summer.
New City
The economic crisis of 2013 saw many restaurants on Leoforos Archiepiskopou Makariou
III shift to Ledra St in the Old City. Some of the surrounding residential streets, like leafy
and affluent Klimentos, are still home to some top dining, however, while Themistokli
Dervi is fast becoming
the
place to come for cool new coffee shops and cafes.

Apart from being one of the best places to eat in Nicosia, this is the ideal place for veget-
arians and families (it has a large garden in which children can play). The meze is vast and
