The only differences that arise relate to local taxes and utility costs. These are paid by
the Greeks only; as the Turks are citizens of the North, they pay nothing. The politics,
though, come second, as it is understood here that they are all Cypriots.
There are nearby vehicle crossings to Northern Cyprus at the town of Pergamos.
Protaras

With bags of child-friendly activities in the area, gorgeous sweeps of beach and a general
air of easygoing holiday fun, the resort town of Protaras is a favourite holiday spot for
families. Totally geared towards tourism its modernised beachfront comes complete with
walking path and bike track and hosts sprawling hotels with manicured lawns and huge
swimming pooIs while the main avenue has a concentration of shops, restaurants, hotels
and bars.
1 Sights & Activities
Ayios Elias CHURCH
Rebuilt in 1980, this church is situated on a rocky peak just off the Protaras-Pernera road.
A long set of stairs leads to the top, where you can enjoy magnificent views of Protaras
and the bay. Follow the signs to get here.
Magic Dancing Water WATER SHOW
(adult/child €15/8; h 9pm)
Young kids will love this show where water seems to dance and spin, accompanied by
cheesy '80s music, laser lights and holograms.
Moonshine Ranch HORSE RIDING
( % 9960 5042; Cape Greco; rides €40; h 8am-7pm)
This ranch has a glorious position with sweeping views of Cape Greco. It offers accom-
panied rides taking in Konnos Bay, the cape and the surrounding mountainous valley. All
skill levels are happily catered for. The ranch is just off the coastal road between Agia
Napa and Protaras.
