In-Depth Information
Alea
CAFE, BAR
A thong's throw from the waves, this former restaurant has happily morphed into a fash-
ionable cafe-cum-lounge bar, famed for its seven choices of daiquiri (€5.50). The music is
suitably chilled with regular live bands in the summer. Sit on the sprawling terrace or
duck into one of the more intimate spaces within, decorated with eclectic antiques and
heavy wooden furniture.
Old Fishing Shack Pub
PUB
Owner Athos loves good beer and good music (classic rock and blues), so come here for
both. He also makes his own headily recommended cider spiked with ginger, and holds an
annual beer festival the last weekend in September with live music and a tasting of some
200-plus beers.
La Place Royale
CAFE, BAR
This is one of the classiest cafe-bars, right on the busy pedestrian strip at the eastern end
of Posidonos. This little oasis of glass, cane, wrought iron and mini waterfalls in a shaded
paved patio is perfect for a pre-clubbing cocktail. Food is served but it's fairly forgettable.
Omnia
BAR
A delightful location across from a leafy small park with a sprawling white wicker-and-
leaf, green-themed terrace contrasted with the late-night look of a hot pink-and-black in-
terior. A couple of TVs screen music videos or sports, and there are some light eats to ac-
company the drinks (cocktails €5.50).
Different Bar
BAR
Popular gay bar with an attractive dark ochre colour scheme and tables on the terrace
overlooking the street
Deck Cafe & Bar
BAR
Situated beside the Alexander the Great hotel, this is a choice place to kick back while
listening to feel-good lounge music and sipping a (feel-good) cocktail. The terrace is vast
and overlooks the sand and rocks. Avoid the indifferent food.
