In-Depth Information
Heading east, you come to Alykes Beach, which is better known locally as Sopab Beach
after a factory that once stood here. Wedged between the Deck Cafe & Bar and the Alex-
ander the Great hotel, this is a perfect spot for families with paddling tots, with rock pools
and shallow, clear water, as well as sufficient sand for sandcastles. The sprawling terrace
of the overlooking cafe is also convenient for refreshments and drinks (including grown-
up cocktails at sunset).
Vrysoudia Beach BEACH
East from Alykes Beach, you come to arguably the best municipal beach, Vrysoudia
Beach, stretching some 400m and where you can rent sunbeds and parasols (€5 per day).
There is also a popular beach bar here.
Faros Beach BEACH
You will need wheels to reach Faros Beach, located north of Pafos Archaeological Site.
It's an exposed, sandy beach with some sandstone rocks and a couple of on-site snack
bars. Keep in mind, however, that the open sea often develops a swell, which can be dan-
gerous for swimming.
Kissonerga Bay BEACH
Around 8km north of Kato Pafos, Kissonerga Bay is a long, sandy undeveloped beach,
where you can find banana plantations and solitude. There are almost no facilities, so
bring a book, food and water, and relax.
