LIFE'S NO CABARET
We don't recommend visiting any of the city's 'cabarets', but if you do decide to go, keep in mind that many of
the women working in the clubs may be there under duress. Also bear in mind stories of customers being charged
several hundred pounds for a couple of beers at the end of the night - and woe betide those who refuse to pay.

Shopping
Most of Lemesos' clothes, shoe and appliance shops are clustered along the pedestrian
street of Agiou Andreou in central Lemesos. Head for the backstreets here for more idio-
syncratic gift shops, boutiques and similar.
Municipal Market
FOOD & DRINK
The restored municipal market, full of fresh produce, is a must-visit for self-caterers and
is also an excellent source of foodie-style souvenirs such as local honey, nuts and scrump-
tious Cypriot sweets. It's housed in a lovely old stone structure first built in 1917.
Cyprus Handicrafts Centre
SOUVENIRS
As in other cities across Cyprus, this government-sponsored store is the best place for
seeking out authentic, traditional and fairly priced handmade crafts.
Violet's Second Hand Shop
CLOTHING
A great place for clothes and jewellery, including some interesting Cypriot vintage pieces.
