This snazzy cafe attracts Lemesos' hipster set with a menu of pasta, sushi, steaks and light
bites. There are comfy sofas, great street-side tables and superb people-watching poten-
tial.
Rizitiko Tavern CYPRIOT

Tucked away by the mosque on a newly pedestrianised street, this is a reliably good, low-
key establishment with tables that spill out onto the cobbles at night. The afelia (pork
cooked in red wine and coriander) and kleftiko (oven-baked lamb) are homemade quality
- or better.

A modern take on Cypriot classics is the name of the game at this stylish restaurant, which
is part of the Old Carob Mill complex. The hearty traditional tavern food here has been
given a thorough touch of finesse for modern foodie palates.
Artima Bistro MEDITERRANEAN

This is where Queen Sofia of Spain chose to eat during an official trip to Cyprus in March
2011 (to open the Miró exhibition). Inspired by Italy's cuisine, the menu includes lots of
pasta and seafood options with clever and innovative tweaks.
Trata Fish Tavern SEAFOOD

This is arguably one of Lemesos' best fish restaurants, particularly famed for the seafood
meze. Despite the 'plain Jane' decor and unassuming atmosphere, the place attracts shoals
of locals, particularly at weekends. It's just behind the prominently located Debenhams
department store, around 400m east of the Municipal Gardens.
6 Drinking & Nightlife
Most places in Lemesos are quiet until at least 10pm. Bars on the seafront strip are pre-
dictably tourist-geared with bitter on tap and football on the big screen. For a more au-
thentic Cypriot experience, head for bars in and around the Old Carob Mill and the histor-
ic centre. The city also has a handful of contemporary, slightly bohemian cafes, the sorts
