When shading a very soft area such as this kitten's muzzle, I like to use just
a dirty tortillion rather than a pencil to add any tone in that area.
Open Puppy Mouth

Piglet Snout
Piglets have soft, flat snouts with rather round nostrils. They often appear
shiny because their noses are moist, but they also have quite a few
wrinkles, even in a very young piglet.
