Short, Smooth Fur
Use short, delicate strokes that are close together. Short fur reveals the form
and musculature beneath, so there should be highlights and shadows within
the fur to show the form below. Blend slightly with a tortillion.
Overlapping Feathers
Feathers overlap in rows with each one offset from the one below it. Your
parallel pencil strokes should radiate outward from the central vein of each
feather. There is a lighter edge on each feather that helps separate it from
the ones below.
