Blend the fur with the tortillion. Emphasize the whiskers by drawing lines under the
impressed lines with the 4H pencil. Pick out a few light hairs with the edge of the
eraser.

This drawing is of a juvenile deer mouse. Mice are born with their eyes
closed and no fur, and are called “pinkies” when they are newborns. Once
open, the eyes are quite round and appear to bulge out from their sockets
somewhat when you are looking at the mouse head-on. Mouse tails have
varying amounts of hair, but from a distance they look pink and hairless.
Mice are quick movers and are good at hiding, so you will be lucky to get a
