5 Develop the Fur
Begin developing the fur with delicate strokes of the Raw Umber colored pencil, re-
membering to always stroke in the direction of fur growth. Rotate your paper to
make this easier if necessary. Blend slightly with a tortillion. Do not rub too hard or
you will lift the pastel pigment off the paper.
DRAWING WHITE HAIR
When drawing white hair, you actually need to draw the shading between the locks
of hair. This is called "negative drawing." If you try to draw the individual hairs, the
fur will come out looking dirty and unnatural.
