The nicest of the local campgrounds, tucked into a cottonwood grove on the banks of the
Rio Sabor, has featureless but shady and quiet sites, plus hot showers and a restaurant.
From Bragança take STUB bus 7 (€1.20, 20 minutes, four daily).

The region's
most luxurious accommodation is this refurbished stone-walled house, run by a friendly
Anglo-Dutch couple. It retains numerous period features, including high, beamed ceilings
and an old stone water trough downstairs. The comfortable rooms come equipped with
cable internet connections, tea-making facilities, flat-screen TVs and beautifully tiled
modern bathrooms with tubs.
Other amenities include mountain bikes, a nice piano, a library full of books about local
trails, flora and fauna, a swimming pool heated by solar power and incinerated olive pits,
and six hiking trails right out the back. Two meals a day from the vegetarian-friendly kit-
chen are included in the price. Kids will love the ping-pong table, not to mention the
sheepdogs, cats, bunny, Scottish Highland ponies, horse and donkey. Prices with breakfast
and dinner are €125.

arinho, 17km northwest of Bragança, this 18th-century home built of oak, chestnut and
schist has lovely beamed ceilings and exposed-stone walls. Across the street is a self-ca-

riverside beaches, enhance its appeal.
