mering in neon and acrylic, Figueira's casino is the epicentre of the city's nightlife. Crawl-
ing with cash-laden holidaymakers in search of a quick buck, it has roulette and slot ma-
chines, occasional free cabaret shows and a sophisticated piano bar with live music after
11pm most evenings. Dress up at night - beach attire, thongs (flip-flops) or sports shoes
may keep you out.

Getting There & Away
The train and bus stations are right next to each other, 1.5km east of the beach.
BUS
Figueira is served by two long-distance companies. Moisés Correia de Oliveira ( 233 426 703;
www.moises-transportes.pt ) has at least hourly service (fewer on weekends) via Montemor - o-
Velho to Coimbra (€3.90, 1½ hours).
Rede Expressos ( www.rede-expressos.pt ) has buses to Lisbon (€15.50, 2¾ hours, at least three
daily) via Leiria; and to Aveiro (€8.50, one hour, two to four daily).
