Taverna dos Conjurados

slightly more upmarket than the average taverna, yet it's by no means snobby. The attent-
ive host is proud of his classic Portuguese cuisine, with some recipes going back to the
Dukes' times (complete with time-consuming preparation). Regional meats, baccalhau
(salted codfish) and perdiz (partridge) are favourites.

mercado municipal, this is the pick for quality food and shady location. It has an airy,
semicircular interior, and you can eat snacks at garden tables. The changing daily specials
(Monday, bacalhau; Tuesday, arroz de pato etc) feature regional cuisine.
