CAR
The most direct route from Lisbon to Faro takes about five hours. An alternative to the
motorway is the often traffic-clogged N125. Tolls apply.
Faro's easiest parking is in Largo de São Francisco (free).
Major car-rental agencies are at the airport.

TRAIN
There are five trains from Lisbon daily (€21.20 to €22.20, three to 3¾ hours); 1st-class
fares are slightly higher. You can also get to Porto (€51.50, six to eight hours, three daily),
sometimes changing at Lisbon.

Albufeira (€3.30, 30 minutes, nine daily)
Lagos (€7.20, 1¾ hours, nine daily)
Vila Real de Santo António (€5.15, 1¼ hours, 10 daily) Via Olhão (€1.40, 10 minutes).
Getting Around
TO/FROM THE AIRPORT
Eva ( 289 899 740; www.eva-bus.com ) buses 14 and 16 run from the airport to the bus station
(€1.95, 20 minutes, half-hourly June to August, every two hours on weekends December
to February). From here it's an easy stroll to the centre.
A taxi into town costs around €12 (20% more after 10pm and on weekends), plus
around €2 for each luggage item.
BICYCLE & KAYAK
You can rent bikes (including kids' bikes) from Formosamar (p109;per hour/day €6/20)
and kayaks from Centro Nautico (€3 per hour) .
