10.3 Conclusion
HFEs based on various materials will continue to be an area of high research
interest for future electron emission devices. However, although significant
progress has been made for the realisation of ecient HFE cathode elem-
ents, more efforts are required for the development of a HFE technology
suitable for large-scale industrial applications.
