south of the Sunset District,
and is occasionally used

Cobbs Comedy Club,
Fisherman's Wharf, hosts the San
Francisco International Comedy
Competition for four weeks in
August/September. Over 300
entertainers join in.
Performers from the San
Francisco Opera sing outdoors
in the Financial District, as part
of the “Brown Bag Operas”
series. In the summer the park
is host to the Shakespeare
Festival, Comedy Celebration
Day, and the San Francisco
Mime Troupe. A series of
concerts called “Jewels in the
Square” brings live music to
Union Square on Wednesdays
at 12:30pm and 6pm, and
Sundays at 2pm, and at Old
St. Mary's Cathedral (see p100)
there are sometimes
lunchtime recitals at 12:30pm
during the week.
