a private house, and Internet
services have made a much
broader range of accommoda-
tions available. Options include
everything from lofts and sofas
in shared communal spaces to
luxurious private apartments.
AMSI and Pinnacle at Nob Hill
are furnished high-end
apartments for long-term rent.
While home rental web sites are
increasingly popular all over the
world, tech-savvy San Francisco
has more users than most
locations, and sites like AirBnB or
VRBO have hundreds of listings
available. Rooms are rented out
by a resident owner in his or her
own home, or sublet by
apartment tenants; breakfast is
often provided. Deposits may
be requested and cancellation
fees imposed so enquire when
you book. There may also be a
minimum stay period. If you do
opt to stay in a private house,

expect guests to be quiet and
