TICKETS, PLEASE
Tickets for public transport in Naples and the surrounding Campania region are managed by the Unico
Campania consortium ( www.unicocampania.it ) . There are various plans available, depending on
where you are travelling to. The following is a rundown of the various tickets on offer:
» Unico Napoli (90 minutes €1.20, 24 hours weekdays/weekends €3.60/3) Unlimited
travel by bus, tram, funicular, metro, Ferrovia Cumana or Circumflegrea.
» Unico Costiera (45 minutes €2.40, 90 minutes €3.60, 24 hours €7.20, 72 hours
€18) A money saver if you plan on much travelling by SITA or EAV bus and/or Cir-
cumvesuviana train in the Bay of Naples and Amalfi Coast area. The 24- and 72-hour
tickets also cover the City Sightseeing Sorrento tourist bus service between Amalfi
and Ravello, and Amalfi and Maiori, which runs from April to October.
» Unico 3T (72 hours €20) Unlimited travel through Campania, including the Alibus
airport shuttle and transport on the islands of Ischia and Procida.
» Unico Ischia (90 minutes €1.40, 24 hours €4.50) Unlimited bus travel on Ischia.
» Unico Capri (60 minutes €2.40, 24 hours €8.40) Unlimited bus travel on Capri.
The 60-minute ticket also allows a single trip on the funicular connecting Marina
Grande to Capri Town; the daily ticket allows for two funicular trips.
Tickets are sold at stations, ANM booths and tobacconists.
Taxi
Official taxis are white and metered and bear the Naples symbol, the Pulcinella (with his
distinctive white cone-shaped hat and long hooked nose) on their front doors. Always en-
sure the meter is running.
The minimum starting fare is €3, with a baffling range of additional charges, all of
which are listed at www.consorziotaxinapoli.it/who-we-are/rates/ . These extras include
the following:
» €1 for a radio taxi call
» €2.50 extra on Sundays, holidays and between 10pm and 7am
» €2.60 for an airport run, €4 for trips starting at the airport and €0.50 per piece of luggage
in the boot (trunk). Guide dogs for the blind and wheelchairs are carried free of charge.
