Toilets
Public toilets are rare in Naples. Bars and cafes usually have toilets, but you may need to
buy a coffee first. Public toilets are available at museums and at the main bus and train
stations. Several public toilets have attendants, who'll expect a small tip - €0.50 should
do.
Tourist Information
The quality of tourist offices varies dramatically. One office might have enthusiastic staff,
another might be indifferent. Most offices can offer you a plethora of brochures, maps and
leaflets, even if staff are uninterested in helping in any other way.

is in the Naples district of Chiaia. It is generally
more concerned with planning, budgeting, marketing and promotion than with offering a
public information service. However, it still maintains a useful tourist website.
Local & Provincial Tourist Offices
Despite their different (and sometimes confusingly elaborate) names, provincial and local
offices offer similar services and are collectively referenced with the generic term 'tourist
office' throughout this topic. All deal directly with the public, and most will respond to
written and telephone requests for information. Staff can usually provide a city map, lists
of hotels and information on the major sights. In larger towns and major tourist areas, staff
have a working knowledge of at least one other language, usually English but also French
and German.
Main offices are generally open Monday to Friday; some also open on weekends, espe-
cially in urban areas or during peak summer season. Affiliated information booths (at train
stations and airports, for example) may keep slightly different hours.
