In-Depth Information
The apartments are fairly simple, but the setting is delightful and the swimming pool is a
welcome luxury.
Marina del Cantone
A delightful low-key place, you should have little problem finding accommodation here,
aside from in August when the tidal wave of Italians swamp the hotels in this holiday hot-
spot of the Sorrentine peninsula.
CAMPGROUND

( 081 808 10 51; www.villaggionettuno.it ; Via A Vespucci 39; camping 2 people, tent
& car per person €16-35, bungalow €35-85; Mar-early Nov) Marina's campground -
in the terraced olive groves by the entrance to the village - offers an array of accommoda-
tion options, including campsites, mobile homes, and (best of all) apartments in a 16th-
century tower for two to five people. It's a friendly, environmentally sound place with ex-
cellent facilities and a comprehensive list of activities.
Positano
Positano is a glorious place to stay, but be aware that prices are, overall, high. Like every-
where on the Amalfi Coast it gets very busy in summer, so book ahead, particularly on
weekends and in July and August. Ask at the tourist office about rooms or apartments in
private houses.
PENSIONI
Pensione Maria Luisa €

( 089 87 50 23; www.pensionemarialuisa.com ; Via Fornillo 42; r €70-85; Apr-Oct;
) The best budget choice in town, the Maria Luisa is run by lovely Carlo, a larger-
than-life character who will go out of his way to assist and advise. The rooms and bath-
rooms have been updated with shiny new blue tiles and fittings; those with private ter-
races are well worth the extra €10 for the view of the bay and visits from the affectionate
resident ginger Tom. The sunny communal area (with fridges, coffee machine, topics and
views) is a major plus. Most rooms also have fridges, complete with complimentary
Spumante. Breakfast costs an additional €5.
