This is one of the newer hotels in town - and it shows. The whole
place sports a bright contemporary look with dazzling white contrasting with earthy par-
quet floors, accented by splashes of dark pink, blue or yellow. Gennaro Sardella abstracts
adorn the walls and the rooftop sky bar (round the corner from the infinity pool) is perfect
for a sundowner with its scenic views of rooftops and sea.

A pocket-size gem, this B&B is housed in a 16th-century building in the
city centre. All six rooms combine original structural elements, like niches and vaulted
ceilings, with the modern comforts of flatscreen TV, fridge and excellent water pressure.
Brightly painted doors, tasteful art work and antiques complete the eclectic look. Rooms
surround a central parlour, where breakfast is served on a large rustic table.

This aesthetically renovated classic has
the advantage of being located in the heart of the
centro storico
and the disadvantage of
no parking. Overall, it's an excellent choice. The interior sparkles with colourful glossy
tiles and blue and buttercup-yellow paintwork. The large enclosed back terrace is a delight
with seats set under orange and lemon trees and colourful tiled murals lining the back
wall.

One of a cluster of hotels along Via Capo, the
Desiré is a top budget choice. It's not so much the simple, sunny rooms (although they're
fine) or the facilities (a TV lounge and panoramic roof terrace) as the relaxed atmosphere,
friendly owner and beautiful views. The lift down to the rocky beach below is a further
plus, even if you still have to pay for the umbrellas and deck chairs.
