NAPLES
A high-voltage shot of historical sights, buzzing squares and street life, the centro storico
(historic centre) is Naples' heart and soul and a convenient spot to slumber. Options span
secret B&Bs, designer dens and converted baroque palazzi .
Closer to the train station, Mercato is awash with budget hotels; the option we've listed
was clean and reliable at the time of writing (Hotel Zara), but be warned that the area is
bedlam by day and dodgy by night.

and personable team, this urbane B&B offers four colour-coordinated bedrooms with spe-
cially commissioned sculptural lamps, ethnic-inspired furnishings and designer bathrooms.
There's a modern kitchen, cosy lounge and
a charming majolica-tiled terrace. Best of all, its quiet side-street location is only steps
away from the buzzing heart of the centro storico .

ste €170/220/250; ; Dante) Chic and tranquil, Costantinopoli 104 is set in a
neoclassical villa in the city's bohemian heart-land. Although showing a bit of wear in
places, rooms remain understatedly elegant, comfortable and spotlessly clean - those on the
1st floor open onto a sun terrace, while ground-floor rooms face the small, palm-fringed
pool.
Add tasteful antique furniture, contemporary art and a Liberty-era, stained-glass window,
and you have one seriously seductive urban oasis.
