In-Depth Information
Bus
CSTP ( 089 48 70 01; www.cstp.it ) operates regular buses from Salerno and Paestum
to several Cilento coastal resorts, including Agropoli, Santa Maria di Castellabate, San
Marco di Castellabate and Acciaroli.
Curcio Viaggi ( 089 25 40 80; www.curcioviaggi.it ) operates a number of routes
that cover the coast and park, including a daily bus from Pertosa to Palinuro that stops at
Teggiano, Sassano and Padula.
SITA (
089 22 66 04; www.sitabus.it ) has a daily service from Salerno to Castelciv-
ita and Polla.
Car
The coastal towns are well signposted and, in general, good for parking. There are plenty
of car-rental outfits here, including Alba Rent Car ( 0974 82 80 99; Via A De Gasperi
82, Agropoli; per day from €50) or similarly priced LT Trasporti (
0974 96 13 66;
www.ltgroup.it ; Via Colombo 11, Santa Maria di Castellabate) .
The Parco Nazionale del Cilento is similarly easy to navigate by car, provided you have
a detailed map. Relying on public transport can be an incredibly frustrating, not to men-
tion time-consuming, business.
Train
Most destinations on the Cilento coast are served by the main rail route from Naples to
Reggio di Calabria. Consult Trenitalia ( www.trenitalia.it ) for fares and information. For
Palinuro, the nearest train station is Pisciotta, from where there is regular bus service to
the resort.
Cilento Coast
While the Cilento stretch of coastline lacks the gloss and sophistication of the Amalfi
Coast, it can afford to have a slight air of superiority when it comes to its beaches: a com-
bination of secluded coves and long stretches of golden sand with a welcome lack of over-
priced ice creams and sunbeds. Beyond the options outlined below, the far southeastern
stop along the coastline is Sapri , which has two pleasant beaches in the centre of town.
