Eating
La Torre €€
( 081 80 89 56; Piazzetta Annunziata 7, Annunziata, Massa Lubrense; meals
€42; Wed-Mon, Apr-Feb) This delightful, laid-back restaurant on a tranquil square
serves mouth-watering traditional cuisine with an emphasis on seafood. A member of the
Slow Food Movement, the menu changes seasonally, but you can usually depend on clas-
sics like tonani con patate (tuna with potatoes). Consider the cholesterol-overdose indul-
gence of a nine-cheese taster (€6), ranging from fresh caciottina from Massa Lubrense to
provolone del Monaco (a seasoned semi-hard cheese made from cows' milk).
Eat alfresco on the terrace, then stroll down to the belvedere for a rare wide-angle shot
of Capri, Ischia, Procida, Naples and Vesuvius.
SEAFOOD
SEAFOOD
Funiculi Funiculá €€
(Via Fontanelle 16, Marina della Lobra; meals €32; Apr-Oct; ) This great bar-res-
taurant on the seafront at Marina della Lobra has views of Ischia, Capri and Vesuvius. Un-
surprisingly, the menu is dominated by seafood, but there are also family friendly meal-in-
one salads and the usual array of grilled-meat dishes. Those with expanding midriffs can
behave with a fresh fruit salad dessert or misbehave by popping next door to their cafe for
a chocolate-filled crêpe or ice cream.
