Getting There & Around
Car & Motorcycle
Coming from Naples and the north, take the A3 autostrada until Castellammare di Stabia;
exit there and follow the SS145 south.
Car Rental
Renting a car provides the optimum flexibility and Sorrento is an excellent base for ex-
ploring the Amalfi Coast and beyond. The big international operators are here, as well as
some local outfits.
Avis ( 081 878 24 59; www.avisautonoleggio.it ; Viale Nizza 53)
Hertz ( 081 807 16 46; www.hertz.it ; Via degli Aranci 9)
Autoservizi De Martino ( 081 878 28 01; www.autoservizidemartino.com ; Via
Parsano 8) Has cars from €58 a day, €280 per week, plus 50cc scooters from €23 for four
hours.
Parking
In midsummer, finding a parking spot can be a frustrating business, particularly as much
of the parking on the side streets is for residents only and the city centre is closed to traffic
for much of the day. There are well-signposted car parks near the ferry terminal, on the
corner of Via degli Aranci and Via Renato, and heading west out of town near Via Capo
(€2 per hour).
Boat
Sorrento is the main jumping-off point for Capri and also has excellent ferry connections
to Ischia, Naples and Amalfi coastal resorts during the summer months.
Gescab ( 081 807 18 12; www.gescab.it ) Runs hydrofoils to Naples (€11, 35 minutes,
