The MCIF is a flat table which combines the most important blocks of information
to provide an integrated view of the customer's relationship with the organization.
The data mart is a general purpose data repository, a transitional stage through
which operational data pass before being used for analysis. The MCIF is the last
step in the data preparation procedure, with data that can immediately (or with a
little extra processing) support the majority of the data mining applications. The
MCIF presented here is at an MSISDN level, although the data mart design also
allows theMCIF to be built at a different level (e.g., at a customer level) if required.
Although the contents of the MCIF should take into account the specific
mining needs and plans of each organization, we present in Table 4.28 a listing
of fields in an attempt to delineate the data dimensions typically required for
identifying the traffic patterns and usage profile of mobile phone customers.
