1 AYA SOFYA
The 17-year restoration of the world's greatest Byzantine edifice, İstanbul's Aya Sofya, has
finished to rapturous applause, and nearby Ayasofya Hürrem Sultan Hamamı has reopened

2 GÖBEKLI TEPE
Their fame was a long time coming (about 12,000 years), but Şanlıurfa's Neolithic mega-
liths featured on a National Geographic cover in 2011.
3 CULINARY İSTANBUL
İstanbul has bolstered its gastronomic offering with culinary walks led by food bloggers,

4 HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENTS
Improvements at historic sites include Boğazkale Museum's Hittite sphinxes, returned from
Berlin and İstanbul, the cable car to Pergamum acropolis and Seljuk's Ayasuluk Fortress,
reopened after a 20-year excavation.
5 KAÇKAR MOUNTAINS (KAÇKAR DAĞLARI)
On the range's southern side, day walks have been marked around the villages and a new
package with East Turkey Expeditions makes summiting Mt Kaçkar affordable for inde-
pendent travellers.
