In-Depth Information

Ankara. Delta Bisiklet ( www.deltabisiklet.com ) , which has branches in İstanbul, Ankara,
İzmir and Antalya, services bicycles and can send parts throughout the country.
» Transport You can often transport your bike by bus, train or ferry free of charge, al-
though some buses will charge for the space it takes up.
BOAT
İstanbul Deniz Otobüsleri ( Click here ) operates passenger and car ferries across the Sea
of Marmara, with routes including:
» İstanbul Kabataş-Çınarcık (west of Yalova)
» İstanbul Yenıkapı-Bandırma, Bursa and Yalova.
BUS
Turkey's intercity bus system is as good as any you'll find, with modern, comfortable
coaches crossing the country at all hours and for very reasonable prices. On the journey,
you'll be treated to hot drinks and snacks, plus liberal sprinklings of the Turks' beloved
kolonya (lemon cologne).
COMPANIES
Try to stick to the major bus companies. The smaller operators are less dependable, and
sometimes drop passengers on the road outside town rather than taking them all the way
to the otogar.
These are some of the best companies, with extensive route networks:
Kamil Koç ( 444 0562; www.kamilkoc.com.tr ) Serves most major cities throughout western
and central Turkey.
Metro Turizm (
444 3455; www.metroturizm.com.tr ) Serves most major cities and towns
throughout Turkey.
Ulusoy ( 444 1888; www.ulusoy.com.tr ; İnönü Caddesi 59) Serves most major cities and towns,
particularly in western and central Turkey, going as far east as Erzurum.
