This laid-back pension in a peaceful spot has rooms in three blocks, including a traditional
wooden, chalet-style unit. Those above the pleasant riverside bar benefit from views of
the gurgling Barhal. Rafting trips can be organised.

drag, serves simple breakfasts, fish and chicken dishes, burgers, tost (toasted sandwich)

Yusufeli has banks with ATMs, a petrol station and tourist office (
8am-9.30pm May-Oct,
8am-5.30pm Mon-Fri Nov-Apr) .
Getting There & Away
Yusufeli's central otogar is near the tourist office.
There are morning buses to Artvin ( " 15), Erzurum ( " 20, three hours) and the Black Sea
coast. You can also take a dolmuş ( " 4) or taxi ( " 25) to the petrol station on the Artv-
in-Erzurum road and catch passing buses, including the Kars bus, which passes at about
1pm ( " 30).
To reach Barhal, Yaylalar or Olgunlar in the morning for a day walk, you will likely have
to hire a taxi ( " 100 between Barhal and Yusufeli or Yaylalar).
Driving into the Kaçkars, the road is surfaced from Yusufeli to Sarıgöl (about 18km).
Continuing to Barhal (about 10km), about 60% is surfaced; thereafter, the road is unsur-
faced. If it's dry, the winding, narrow road can be braved by confident drivers, in an ordin-
ary car with good clearance (and without sentimental value), all the way up to Olgunlar.
