In summer, there are frequent dolmuşes to/from Pazar and Ardeşen ( " 10) via Çamlıhemşin
( " 5). Particularly above Çamlıhemşin, services are scarcer in winter; taxis from Çam-
lıhemşin to Ayder cost about " 30. Havaş (
325 9575; www.havas.net ) operates shuttles
between Pazar and Trabzon airport ( " 15).
On summer mornings, dolmuşes run into the mountains (about " 10) and return between
roughly 2pm and 5pm, enabling day walks. Check locally for schedules.
Yusufeli

This likeable riverside town and part of the nearby valley are, sadly, slated to vanish un-
derwater due to the Yusufeli dam project. For now, the amicable country town is the gate-
way to the southern Kaçkars.
