Kekova
Overlooking the glittering stretch of sea between the isle of Kekova (see boxed text, Click
here ) and the Mediterranean mainland are rocky peninsulas, vertiginous slopes and fishing
villages. What's more, if you shift your gaze from these stunning surroundings and peer
over the side of your boat or sea kayak, you will see the submerged shapes of ancient ruins.
This was once a residential neighbourhood in the Lycian city of Simena, consigned to a wa-
tery grave by a series of severe earthquakes in the 2nd century AD.
