Orhan Gazi (Yiğitler) Caddesi, to reach the Hisar (Fortress) or Tophane. On the summit, a

founders, rebuilt in baroque style in 1868. Remove shoes before entering. There's a

The 'Book House', a former Ottoman house and bookstore, draws an artistic-
ally inclined clientele with its eclectic decor. Well-polished wood fixtures, and little
touches like artwork and stained glass, complement the rows of bookshelves and empty
leather suitcases. The restaurant is excellent.

the exterior partly includes a Byzantine wall, rooms are thoroughly modern (with a hint of
