There are standalone ATM booths in, and around, the otogar. Some of the town's travel
agencies will exchange money, although you're probably better off going to the
post of-
fice

Tourist Information
There's an information booth at the otogar that is open when most long-distance buses ar-
rive, but it's run by the
Göreme Turizmciler Derneği
(Göreme Tourism Society; 271 2558;

, a coalition of hotel and restaurant owners, and staff can't supply much
meaningful information. They give out and sell maps.
Getting There & Away
There are daily long-distance buses from Göreme's otogar to destinations including Ank-
ara (

30, 4½ hours), Antalya (

45, nine hours), İstanbul (

40 to

50, 11 to 12 hours) and
Selçuk (

50, 11½ hours). Normally you're ferried to Nevşehir's otogar to pick up the main
service (which can add nearly an hour to your travelling time).

Refill your tank in Nevşehir, Avanos, Ürgüp or one of the garages on the main road near
Ortahisar and Ibrahimpaşa.

Let's get one thing straight: despite the science-fiction setting, no scene in
Star Wars
was
ever filmed near Soğanlı, or anywhere else in Turkey. But don't despair, Chewbacca fans,
there's still ample reason to travel to this tiny village 36km south of Mustafapaşa, namely
a reverential series of rock-cut churches hidden in two dramatic, secluded valleys.
