In-Depth Information
Guided day hikes are usually in the Güllüdere (Rose), Kızılçuker (Red) or Meskendir
Valleys. Costs vary according to the destination, difficulty and length.
The full-day Ihlara Valley trip usually includes a short guided hike in the gorge, lunch
and a trip to an underground city; most operators charge about " 90.
Most itineraries finish at a carpet shop, onyx factory or pottery workshop, but it is still
worth taking a tour. It is interesting to see a traditional Cappadocian artisan at work, but
make it clear before the trip begins if you are not interested.
Book tours directly from agents in Cappadocia rather than buying an expensive tour
package upon arrival in İstanbul.
