Anemurium
Although founded by the Phoenicians in the 4th century BC, most of the ruins visible at Anemurium date from the
late Roman, Byzantine and medieval eras. The site is both sprawling and eerily quiet, with ruins stretching 500m to
the pebble beach, and massive city walls scaling the mountainside.
From the car park and sprawling necropolis , walk southeast past a 4th-century basilica ; look behind it for a
pathway of mosaic tiles leading to the sea. Above the church is one of two aqueducts . Opposite the 2nd-century
