Antakya (Hatay) Cuisine
Originating from a slither of Turkish territory between Syria and the eastern Mediterranean,
Antakya's cuisine ( Click here ) reflects the city's Arab characteristics. Local specialities
include the zingy kekik salatasası (thyme salad with spring onions and tomatoes); muham-
mara (a meze dip of crushed walnuts, red pepper and olive oil; also called cevizli biber, or
walnutty peppers); and sürk (tangy soft cheese flavoured with dried red pepper).
