CURETES WAY
This was Ephesus' main thoroughfare, ringed by statuary, great buildings, and rows of
shops selling incense, silk and other goods.
Halfway down, the honorary Trajan Fountain (Curetes Way) was originally fronted by a
huge statue of the great emperor, grasping a pennant and standing on a globe.
The men's latrines , a square structure, has toilet 'seats' along the back walls. Al-
though wealthy men would have had private home bathrooms, they'd also use the public
toilets; some even paid a membership fee to claim a specific seat.
