Near Bodrum centre, these four hilltop windmills have great views of Bodrum town
and harbour. They are owned by local people and haven't been restored.
5 MYNDOS KAPISI (MYNDOS GATE)
Alexander the Great conquered Bodrum after destroying the town's 4th-century 7km-
long walls. Named Myndos Gate
(Turgutreis Caddesi)
because of its western position on
the road to Myndos (modern-day Gümüşlük), this is the only surviving gate in the
town. Its excavation and restoration were completed fairly recently. The nearby tombs,
mosaics and other ruins are also interesting.
