1 CASTLE OF ST PETER
Pride of Bodrum, the castle ( Click here ) was completed by the Crusaders and addi-
tions made in the 15th century. It survives in good condition, overlooking modern Bod-
rum, and now includes the Museum of Underwater Archaeology (a world first) and
some wonderful cafes. The best views of Bodrum are from the top of the castle. The
annual International Bodrum Ballet Festival, which takes place here in late August and
early September, is a cultural highlight.
2 ANCIENT THEATRE
Overlooking Bodrum, this antique Roman theatre (Kıbrıs Şehitler Caddesi) is just a few
hundred metres from the town centre. It sports great views at sunset. In the summer,
various arts, music and dance performances take place here.
3 MARINA YACHT CLUB
This venue (Neyzen Tevik Caddesi 5; 316 1228) has become one of Bodrum's favourite
nightspots. Beautifully fitted out, it boasts three restaurants: one serving international
cuisine; the Italian bistro, a welcome addition to the Bodrum scene; and upstairs - the
best of the lot - outstanding views of the harbour are coupled with superbly presented
food. It's a five-star location and, after 10.30pm, the excellent music ranges from jazz
to Cuban dance and lounge lizard. Don't forget to book ahead in peak season.
