Military History
The Gallipoli Peninsula's famous WWI sites are just a few of the much-contested
area's military sights from across the centuries. Numerous museums also look at the
experiences of soldiers in the WWI campaign.
1 KILYE BAY INFORMATION CENTRE
(Kilye Koyu Ana Tanıtım Merkezi; 9am-noon & 1-5pm) Has an information centre with inter-
active displays, exhibition areas, a memorial, cinema and library.
2 KABATEPE INFORMATION CENTRE & MUSEUM

with more interactive exhibits.
3 GALLIPOLI WAR MUSEUM
(Gelibolu Savaş Müzesi; 566 1272; Sahil Yolu; admission " 3; 9am-noon & 1-6pm Tue-Sun) On
the main road into Gelibolu (at the top of the Gallipoli Peninsula), this museum evokes
the battlefield experience, starting with the sandbags and barbed wire outside. Arte-
facts range from a letter home (on pink paper) to photos of recent excavations and ded-
ications.
4 GALLERY OF THE GALLIPOLI CAMPAIGN

( admission " 3; 8am-8pm) In Alçıtepe village (southern Gallipoli Peninsula), the mu-
seum has photos and artefacts enhanced by mock-ups, dioramas and sound effects.
5 SALIM MUTLU WAR MUSEUM

( admission " 1; 8am-8pm) Also in Alçıtepe, this hodgepodge of rusty finds from the bat-
tlefields gives a sense of just how much artillery was fired.
