tine church is on your left as you enter the Topkapı Palace's First Court through the
Imperial Gate.
3 FETHIYE MUSEUM
(Fethiye Müzesi, Church of Pammakaristos; Fethiye Caddesi, Çarşamba; admission " 5; 9am-4.30pm
Thu-Tue; 33ES, 90, 44B, 36C, 399B & C from Eminönü, 55T from Taksim) This 13th-century
church and 14th-century chapel, visited by Mehmet the Conqueror, are decorated with
gold mosaics, and were later converted to a mosque.

did collection of paintings featuring Turkish Orientalist themes. Exhibitions provide fas-
cinating glimpses into the Ottoman world from the 17th to the early 20th century. The
most beloved painting in the Turkish canon, The Tortoise Trainer (1906), is the standout,
but there's plenty more to see, including Kütahya tiles and ceramics.

KIZ KULESI
( Üsküdar) This squat 18th-century tower on a small island on the Asian side of the Bos-
phorus near Üsküdar featured in the 1999 Bond film The World is Not Enough .

KANLICA
( Kanlıca) The charming suburb of Kanlıca is famous for its rich and delicious yoghurt,
which can be sampled at the two cafes in front of the Kanlıca ferry stop. It's past the Bos-
phorus Bridge on the Asian side.
