sights and accommodation, but weaker on restaurants and nightlife.

Grand Bazaar and, alongside the Golden Horn, the Eminönü area.
» Beyoğlu ( Click here ) Across the Galata Bridge from Eminönü, this vibrant part of

Sights
The Bosphorus strait, between the Black and Marmara Seas, divides Europe from Asia and
Anatolia. On its western shore, European İstanbul is further divided by the Golden Horn
(Haliç) into the Old City (aka the Historical Peninsula) and the New City.
At the tip of the Historical Peninsula is Sultanahmet, the centre of İstanbul's Unesco-des-
ignated World Heritage Site, where you'll find most of the city's famous monuments. Over
Galata Bridge (Galata Köprüsü) on the northern side of the Golden Horn is Beyoğlu.
